Late weekend post

I know it's Wednesday but life as a new mom gets a little crazy sometimes. I would like to recap my weekend.

Friday after work I headed to the bank then tried to talk the hubby into going out to dinner. We ended up going to the store then made dinner at home. If I had to cook I guess I should make one of my faves so beef stroganoff hit the spot. We ended up watching a movie after Will went to sleep and that was so nice. We watched American Hustle and it just wasn't good.

Saturday day was very low key just hung out. Saturday night we had my cousins 12th birthday party. I can't believe he is 12. After the party I headed to a wine/painting party at a friends house. The kids played while the parents painted. I had a great time and it was a lot of fun.
Pretty good I think! I am not artsy at all!

Sunday we decided we would have a family day since the weather would be so nice. It was the perfect day! We haven't had a nice day really since Will was born. We took lots of walks and enjoyed sunshine.

We visited Cliff Cave Park and it was really cool. We could see the river and walk along the bluffs. We also saw a bald eagle.
Someone feel asleep from all the fresh air! We enjoyed lunch outside and all in all had a great trip out.
Sunday night we visited Grandma and Grandpa and had dinner at there house.

The new normal

Before baby it was go with the flow normal. I would do whatever I wanted when I wanted. It was the normal to go to the gym at eight or due laundry while I watched tv. It was normal to arrive early or on time. Well that all changed when William came into the picture. This isn't a bad post it's a change for the better.

Our new normal is all about William's schedule. The first month was crazy there was no routine or schedule. Now that we have figured things out been able to take him out we are figuring out our new normal. Giving the baby consistency and routine is the best thing for him. Trying to get him on a schedule and trying (trying being the key word) to stick to that has been hard lately.

With the holidays and snow days our routine has been a little crazy. Napping has been wonderful but back to the reality of work. Being off for three weeks has been wonderful! I got to spend quality time with Will and the hubby. While I'm at work most days my husband is watching Will, which is absolutely wonderful! I know it will be a hard adjustment again without having Mom there but we will all survive.

Let's talk about getting out the door and being on time. I swear for the life of me we just can't get this one down! It doesn't matter what time we get up or how on top of things we are we just can't seem to make it early for anything. Lol. I guess that's our new normal! Anyone else have this problem?

Getting everyone back on schedule and in a routine is the number one priority these next two weeks. Waking up early for work, making breakfast and packing my lunch, getting something out for dinner, spending time with Will and cleaning the house will become our new normal.

Finding the right balance for everything has been hard but it always works. We are so blessed to have our new normal with Will and we wouldn't have it any other way!
How can you resist that face when he is talking to himself, playing with his toys or even just being so darn cute! Nothing else seems to matter except spending time with him and making him happy!

My life= My family = True happiness

Have a great Monday!

Where is Spring!

It has been crazy cold here lately! I'm talking so cold we could get frost bite! I went back to work the first part of December after maternity leave and now we have been off three weeks! I'm not complaining but being in the house for five days is a long time. So much snow and you can't leave!

We watched lots of movies, made lots of food, cleaned a lot and spent time just the three of us! I am very lucky to have a husband who doesn't work normal hours and he was able to spend many days with us.
We had lots of fires and prepared for not leaving for multiple days.
Drank green tea

Spent time in front of the fire and relaxed!

Needless to say I am very grateful for a warm home, my family and time together.

Breast feeding

I knew all along that I wanted to breast feed and I went in knowing I can do it if I put my mind to it!  After he was born we went right to it! He did awesome! Every nurse would say how well he did and how great it was going. It was really good I loved it! I started to get cracked nipples while in the hospital and when I got home.
Little did I know how my hormones and pain would get the best of me! To me it was so weird to not be emotional after birth it was really weird. I didn't really think anything of it because let's be honest 42 hours of waiting for him to come out is hard on anyone.

When I got home and my milk came in it started to hurt like crazy! I knew it would hurt but man with cracked nipples, mastitis, lack of sleep and baby blues it was all to much and I started pumping. He was exclusively breast feed for two weeks and got only breast milk for six weeks. It wasn't my plan but it was my reality! I was sad and on demand all the time I know that sounds selfish but I wasn't happy and that wasn't going to be good for anyone.

I am now done breast feeding and I miss it so much! I definitely didn't feel that way when I was doing it . I know I did what was best for him and I but now I regret it! I know I wasn't in the right state of mind and now I am and I love my little pumpkin!

Reading other peoples stories and hearing some people judge me for not trying harder is a lot especially when I already miss it ! I know it was for the best buti just have to remember that and not dwell!

Thanks for listening!

Christmas Recap

This year was extra special having Will for the holidays! While I was pregnant, this was all I could think about. All I would think about is how I would dress him, what we would do, where we would go and what traditions we would start.
We are so blessed to have a healthy happy baby!
Plus holiday outfits are super cute!

We went to brunch on Christmas Eve morning with Nick's dad and step mom. They were way beyond generous to us and William. We are so lucky to have them.
Next year will be so much fun! Plus Will is getting a girl cousin in April.

Then Christmas Eve night we went and spent time with everyone on my side of the family.
Look how cute!!

Christmas morning we were going everywhere but it was an amazing day and a great first Christmas for William.
Of course another outfit but gosh he is cute!
Just a few of my presents

2 month update

I am a little late on his two month update but with the holidays and all the hustle and bustle I have been a little preoccupied.

Will is an amazing baby and I am so lucky to get to be his Mommy. I am enjoying every minute I get to be with him.  He truly is the most amazing thing that has happened to me.

TWO months old already! Where has the time gone!

- Will loves to be talked to.
- Will loves to smile and smiles with his whole face
- Will is still eating four ounce bottles every three hours
-Will is starting to grasp onto things ( especially Mommies hair)
-Will is recognizing Mommy and Daddy
-Will follows Mommy or Daddy when they walk by him and say HI
-Will rolls over from belly to back
-Will is still sleeping all night ( hopefully this continues to go well)
-Will has started sleeping in his crib for naps( transitioning him into his own room soon)

Doctor update:

-Will is doing great
-Will is in the 25th % in height
-Will is in the 45% in weight
-Will is in the 95% in head circumference
-Will weights 11 lbs 9 oz and is 23.25 inches long
-Will had to get shots this visit for the first time ( I am pretty sure it was harder on me than him)
-Will has reflux meds for his spit up
-Will has a watery eye so he is taking eye drops for a clogged tear duct

Doctor says we are doing a great job and Will is looking great.

All in all we are getting a routine down and enjoying watching him grow and learn.
Daddy is doing a great job while Mommy has to work.
